You must have completed dragon slayer and have an anti-dragon fire shield. This is to absorb the dragon fire that the dragon will attack you with, if you don’t have it, you can easily be hit 350s+
At least 60 combat as regular melee-based main account or medium-high ranged at any level (for example a pure or main).
Due to the return of the wilderness and hence real pking, there’s a much greater amount of people trying to kill green dragon killers. This means it’s advisable to bring either 3 items if you don’t have the protect one item prayer, or four items with the prayer (just make sure you have full prayer points). I would recommend the best melee weapon you can wield; usually for melee mains this is a dragon longsword, scimitar or an abyssal whip. Then you should take a platebody and platelegs – preferably rune but just take the best you have. This adds up to three items, and I’d recommend also taking a charge amulet of glory. This is very important, and if you don’t have the protect one item prayer, I’d take a cheaper platelegs and still take a charged amulet of glory. Reasons for this will be explained shortly.
Anti-Dragon Shield for Green Dragons
For a melee main, you also need an anti dragon-fire shield. For the other armor slots, I’d advice taking cheaper alternatives. If you can wear rune, but don’t want to risk it then replace for example the helmet slot with an adamant alternative. If you don’t want to take an amulet of glory, take an amulet of strength – they’re only a few thousand gold but dramatically increase how much you can hit more than 2 bandos tassets combined!

There’s not much put taking mage to kill the green dragons because their armor specifically protects against it. The runes would cost as much as you’d gain, but either way it would instantly become non profitable because of the expenditure as well as the very slow killing times.
If you’re a ranged pure or simply want to take ranged, you must take the best crossbow you can with an anti dragon-fire shield. Don’t take a bow because you cannot use the shield spot anymore. I would recommend using broad bolts because they’re very cheap and still very effective, but if you cannot use them then I’d say mithril bolts with an Ava’s accumulator equipped in the cape slot so you do not waste the bolts or waste time having to pick them up. The one good advantage of ranged is that you don’t have to use much food at all because you’re shooting from a distance. All the dragon can do is shoot dragon fire back at you but as long as you have the anti-fire shield equipped you’ll only take 10-40 life points in damage.

With regards to food and potions, I would take basic potions (regular attack/strength) to speed up the rate at which you kill the dragons. You shouldn’t be taking anything too expensive, and in relation to food you need as much as your combat level allows. To figure out how much food you need, take a near full inventory of low grade food – cakes/salmon. Then go for several trips and take an average figure of how much food you eat, then add on one or two just incase.
Teleporting Advice
Five things will dramatically increase the rate at which you’re money making on Runescape by killing green dragons. The first is that amulet of glory which is charged that I mentioned; it takes no quest requirements to wield but more importantly it means that after each load of green dragon bones and green dragon hide you can instantly teleport back to Edgeville near Varrock. This small village is right next to the wilderness and is the quickest way to get back to the green dragons. The green dragons I’m talking about killing are of course the ones that are situated at level 11 wilderness and to the far west just north of the dark mages. The price of an amulet of glory puts people of, but you save a large amount of take and hence earn more gold because you are wasting very little time in actual travelling.
Which worlds
The second tip for green dragon killing is with regards to finding empty worlds. Look for an empty world or go there at a time of day where most people are logged of. This is usually early in the morning to the afternoon for GMT-UK standard time, because the American players have just gone to sleep and the British Runescape players haven’t gotten up yet. Waiting to kill green dragons is a waste of time, and it’s far better to find worlds that are empty of have very few people as opposed to fighting for just a few dragons. Also try going to a German world, for example, where bots there are limited, or to certain worlds with skill requirements.
Cannon
Thirdly, if you can afford it bring a canon (be careful of pkers), you don’t have to use it until someone tries to steal your spot. Then all you do is pull out the canon and start using it to steal their kills – watch them hop of your world right away!
Energy Potions
Using energy potions can definitely help, they’re very cheap and again speed up the rate at which you’re earning gold which more than offsets the costs involved in actually using it. I’d say when you combine the use of the glory amulet as well as energy potions it’s easy to see how to make money on Runescape fast and easy and it’s also important not to waste time – you should always be doing something at least.
Summoning for Success!
The final tip I’ll give you is the use of summoning familiars but more specifically the beast of burden creatures. These essentially act as spare inventory spaces as long as the creature is activated and the most common used at lower levels is the Bull Ant at level 40 which allows around 9 extra items to be carried. Again when you use all these tips in conjunction with each other you can really make a lot of gold. Admittedly I am a very high level, and I don’t usually partake in Runescape green dragons money making, however I did an experiment using all the tips above and I was clocking around 800k an hour – easily. This won’t be as high for you because I am max combat and I am not worried about losing items so I had good gear, but you can easily see how the combination of factors each adding a few percent to the overall effectiveness leads to a large overall increase in gold earnt!

I get a lot of people asking me how much money Green Dragons make per hour, and it’s just a ridiculous question isn’t it. How much you earn is based on how many you kill and how quickly you can kill them. This is based on your combat level, speed increasing advantages and how alert and quick you yourself are. If you’re a very high combat level (nearly maximum) I’ve personally tested it out myself doing just 2 trips but then doing the appropriate calculations to scale things up to a per hour basis and I can make around 1-1.25 million gold per hour. That’s with summoning creatures, with super potions, with an amulet of glory for teleporting and with all the other speed increasing advantages I’ve mentioned. You also need to think of how quick and alert you’re going to be – don’t assume you’re going to be a quick and inefficient person if you generally aren’t. Apply what you’re really like and combine that with your combat level and you’ll get a much better idea of how much gold you’ll make.
Although, and I know this takes effort and everyone’s very lazy, but if it’s not too crazy an idea you could just go ahead and do a single trip and then work it out for yourself instead of sitting around do very rough estimates.
Conclusion
Green Dragon Killing is a pretty good method of earning gold for lower levels, for people who just want something easy to do and don’t want anything stressful. If you’re a high level it’s as easy as clicking every few seconds and watching the cash roll in. It doesn’t take any particular skill, it’s easy and it’s an effective money making tool if don’t correctly.
The downside is that it’s boring, it’s looked down upon and you have a chance of being PKed, which can be annoying even if you don’t lose anything. Out of the six main methods for earning gold this doesn’t exactly rank highly but considering that most people spend their time skilling for gold it’s definitely not a bad option either.

New Method – Killing Green Dragon Bots

I’ve been thinking of different ways to make green dragon killing quicker and more profitable and it occurred to me that one of the main problems which makes green dragon killing a problem – green dragon bots, was also the solution!
Killing Green Dragon bots is much quicker than killing the dragons themselves and it’s quite fun too. Take a look at the screenshot below to see how many bots there are hanging around this place, there are a lot.
Runescape Green Dragon Bots
As you can see the place is usually packed with them! A quick note about these bots is that they can’t distinguish between fighting a person and a dragon, they’ll usually fight back. When they’re out of food is when they’ll teleport or run south to teleport.
Here’s the technique for killing them:
Find the one with the lowest combat level you can attack, with the least defence gear. Start attacking with them and slowly drag them north as far as you can, to level 23 is fine. Now remember you’re fighting simple bots, and when they have no food left they’re programmed to teleport and for this they’ll start to run south. When they start running south is when you use your special attack weapon, Dragon Dagger or Dragon Claws. I know it’s tempting to use it much before this point, but believe me this guarantees the kill pretty much every single time. They’ll be on around 400 life points, no food and you get 2 special attacks and probably about five regular hits to kill them.
Be weary of PKers, if you don’t have much money then Rune Gloves, dragonhides, a DDS and an Amulet of Strength are perfectly fine for getting kills. Four DDS specs on an account with no food will almost certainly kill them. You do need to be at least 70-130 combat because they’re generally around level 90-100 so if you’re too low you won’t be able to attack them.
Some people suggest bringing ice barrage or teleblocks to kill the green dragon bots, but trust me it just isn’t necessary whatsoever. They’ve got very simple programs and using your special attacks on anyone when they’ve got no food is going to be effective, let alone bots.

Green Dragon Bot Killing Tips
To start with don’t use your special attack straight away, you’ll find it very hard to kill them because you have to combo them out – and they can have high defense levels and be wearing decent armour.
Taking a Dragon Defender is a pretty good idea because you need to be able to hit them consistently with your weapon.
You can use your special attack if you only have for example one Dragon Claw Spec or two DDS Specs. If you get them to around 400 life points at level 23 wilderness you’ll have enough kill opportunities to get them and it’s usually more effective if you have a high enough combat level.
Be wary of PKers, if you go to random worlds you should be fine but you do occasionally encounter some people that will try and kill you – avoiding bringing enviable gear will make you less of a target. Be ready to teleport out right away if you need.
When you’re waiting for special attacks don’t just sit there, get killing green dragons yourself!
Go for the bots in the worst gear, not just because they’re easier to kill but because they’re the most experienced botters that don’t risk anything and just take food. They often have the most green dragon bones/green dragon hides. The more you do this the better you’ll become at being able to figure out which is the most likely to have the most loot!
How much profit can you make?
I just want to say I’m not an expert at this, I’ve only learnt about it today and did it today for about 18-20 minutes. I made around 350k in 20 minutes, however I have a high combat level and good weapons. On the other hand there are techniques which you can develop which I did not use. For example, world hopping, writing down the names of new bots coming in, calculating an average time of how long they take to get a near full inventory and then hopping back later to kill them and so forth. If I made 350k with no experience then there’s no doubt in my mind that you can perfect the best method, I myself will learn the best method so I can post it later for you guys
